Below are list of programmes for the 2nd AsiaEngage Regional Conference 2014:
As part of AsiaEngage’s mission to enhance and expand capacities for its members as well as the ASEAN and Asian region as a whole, pre-conference workshops will be organised on the 17th of November 2014. The workshop topics are designed specifically to hone in on skills and knowledge necessary in creating better community engagement in the region. You may choose to only attend these pre-conference workshops, without attending the conference itself, although we strongly recommend that you do. Find out more about these workshops here.
Plenary sessions at our conference will prove to be quite an experience, as we encourage active participation and interactivity. 5 plenary sessions, focused on each of our sub-themes are currently being planned.
Researchers across ASEAN will share their research implementation experience. Papers should be in line with the sub-themes. Oral presentations will be located in breakout rooms, with poster presentations will taking place in the front of the ballroom. Interested to become a presenter? Visit our registration page here.
We believe that the community has just as much to teach us, as they can learn from us. For this reason, community tours are planned to be part of the conference programme, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the community and learn more about successful community engagement projects in Bali, Indonesia. Plans are underway for the community tour to include the Jati Luweh Subak system and scholarship programme for Bangli village. The former looks at how the Subak system deals with irrigation to grow local produce, while also understanding further about their culture, faith and local wisdom. The scholarship programme for the Bangli village is a foster education programme for children in that village. More information about both programmes and the community tour will be made known in the near future.
AsiaEngage is a regional platform formed to maximise the strengths of the Asia-Talloires Network of Industry and Community Engaged Universities (ATNEU), the ASEAN University Network (AUN) Thematic Network on University Social Responsibility and Sustainability (AUN-USR&S) and the ASEAN Youth Volunteer Programme (AYVP).
The First AsiaEngage Regional Conference was held on the 7-9 May 2012 with the theme: “Higher Education-Community-Industry Engagement: Forging Meaningful Partnerships across ASEAN and Asia”. This regional conference saw a participation of 270 engagement practitioners from Universities, Government Agencies, NGOs, Foundations and communities from 16 countries, across ASEAN, Asia and beyond.
